countdown

There are only 53 days left until our wedding day !! We are so very excited. Plans are progressing very nicely. We bought Kirk a fantastic suit last night in which he's going to look so incredibly handsome. It was on sale too, so that was perfect! Now, we are both completely outfitted for the occasion. I just have to mail the invitations (which Ben is so graciously designing and printing for us) once they're finished. We've completed the "registering" process at the department stores of our choice. Our church is hosting a shower for us on August 5th. I am looking forward to that day as well. We're scheduled to meet with the new minister we selected to perform our ceremony next Tuesday. We hit a snag with our first choice, but it's all okay now. We'll have some more pre-marital counseling sessions with the new guy. He seems extremely qualified and very nice, so we're glad he's agreed to help us out.

Work is still really busy and will continue to be so until after the International Conference my job is hosting in August, but then that beautiful honeymoon in sunny Cancun will be the ultimate vacation full of lots of R&R !!

weekend update

I had another pleasant weekend. Friday night we went to the Mountain Opry high atop Signal Mountain. There were several local/regional bluegrass acts who performed. Some were more talented than others, but overall it was a great night. The late night trip to Waffle House afterward was also a blast from the past. I hadn't been there in forever. Their waffles are still the best in the world.

Saturday, Kirk & I went birthday-shopping for his mom. We found her a lovely gift that we hope she will really like. We're celebrating with her tonight by having grilled steaks courtesy of Pete and "Better Than (you know what)" cake courtesy of me .... yummy !

Beginning tomorrow, my week is going to become incredibly busy/hectic, because the auditors arrive back at the office, AND we're having Vacation Bible School at my church! I will be playing the piano for it. It is always fun and exciting to see children being ministered to and worshipping together, but it's also incredibly exhausting to go straight from an 8+ hour workday to a 3+ hour "kidfest" each night. I think I might need to have my head examined soon.

success

I had a fabulous 4-day weekend. My yard sale endeavor on Saturday was a great success. I profited over $100! Mom and I went shopping and found my wedding outfit on Monday. It's a beautiful skirt/blouse combo that's going to be just perfect for our casual outdoor event. Time does seem to be passing quite quickly, which is good because I'm so anxious for that day to get here!!

I enjoyed the 4th of July immensely as well. I spent most of the day getting sunburned at a friend's pool. Then we grilled hot dogs and chicken kebabs at my parents house. That was yummy and fun too. The city's fireworks display was very impressive this year. Leslie & I waded through the traffic to find a parking spot and actually ended up with a birdseye view of the sparkling/booming/smoking extravaganza!
